AUGUST IS THE MONTH OF "PACHA"

AUGUST IS THE MONTH OF "PACHA"

The month of August is the month of the earth, and this Thursday, in Gerenssa, as usual, we offer a small table to the Pachamama, in gratitude for all the good things that happened to us during the last year, for all the projects in which we participate, for the processes that have been successfully closed, for the people we met and the new institutions with whom we work, and with the hope that this new cycle we can continue to contribute with our grain of sand to the development and self-knowledge of our society.  (Sanjinez, Micaela, in Bolivia.com, August 03, 2022)

"August is the month chosen for the offerings because the first agricultural season in the Andean world concludes and, according to the indigenous communities, it is at this time of the year when Mother Earth "opens her mouth" waiting to be venerated with offerings that repay the fruits given and those she will give in the future... The Amautas prepare a table with elements such as, medicinal plants, incense, vegetable aromatic resins, llama fat, colored wool, coca leaves, stuffed llama fetuses and sweets of different colors and shapes, that represent, money, peace, work and prosperity. After the preparation of the table, it is sprayed with alcohol and wine and then set on fire and a kind of bonfire is formed."
